Who We Are

The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) is the only national trade association representing U.S. shipyards engaged in the building and repairing of military and other government vessels, commercial vessels, and those companies providing goods and services to the industry.

What bonds SCA members together are the common problems relating to the
construction and repair of vessels engaged in military and government service, domestic transportation, offshore oil, natural gas and renewable energy service, and the commercial fishing industry.

The mission of the SCA is to be the national unifying association of the shipyard industry, serving as the definitive advocate for the industry in Washington D.C., and around the country.

SCA will inform its members on all matters important to their growth, profitability and success involving legislative and government departments and agencies, and other public and private entities as necessary for the Association to achieve objectives important to its members. SCA will promote high standards of health, safety and environmental awareness throughout the industry.

Built in 1920 on the foundation of commitment to homeland security, national security, and economic security, Shipbuilders Council of America represents mid-sized to large shipyards that have built naval vessels and commercial ships throughout its century-long history. Shipyards throughout the country carry on the legacy of superior shipbuilding, repar, maintenance, and modernization.
