“Safety is the foundation of everything we do in the shipbuilding and repair industry. The men and women in our shipyards perform complex work every day, and it is our responsibility to ensure they return home safely,” said Matthew Paxton, President of the Shipbuilders Council of America. “This year’s award recipients are setting the standard for what a strong safety culture looks like across the industry. As the Administration and Congress place greater focus on strengthening America’s shipbuilding industry, these shipyards’ commitment to protecting their workforce helps strengthen the nation’s industrial base and ensures we can continue building the fleet of the future.”
“As our industry continues to evolve, maintaining the highest safety standards is key to ensuring long-term growth and resilience,” said David Carver, Chairman of the Shipbuilders Council of America and President of General Dynamics NASSCO. “The number of awardees this year reflects the widespread commitment across the industry to building safer workplaces. These shipyards are leading the way by creating environments where workers can thrive and the industry can continue to deliver for our great nation.”
Year after year, the shipbuilding industry continues to improve its safety performance, enabling U.S. shipyards to adapt their operations and effectively address challenges as they arise.
